I first purchased their small scanner and about a year ago upgraded to their desktop scanner. Scanning double sided and or multipage documents often takes many tries before the scanner will actually accept them as the scanner software/program shuts down over and over again. It often takes up to three or four tries before the scanner will accept such documents. More time is wasted getting the scanner to accept scans then getting your desk cleaned... Read more

I have had neat for many years started when they use to be sold at Stales. I got the scanner and software for my mac there. Everything worked great for years. then one day they changes there website and it messed up my sync settings and my online account was lost. For some reason I could not log back in with the software. So at this point I canceled my Cloud account and for the next year only Used the Desktop Software off Line. Just this passed... Read more

ThThe Neat Company and their highly underperforming receipt logging software has turned to utter garbage. The company moved from their desktop one time purchase product to a monthly-fee web-based software which has been a nightmare since the first day they launched it. There is not method supplied to back up any of your cloud data. On numerous occasions files and receipt images have been lost. In addition, Neat never bothered to work the bugs... Read more

I have a major complaint with this product. My husband purchased this product for me. I did not use it right away for about 6 months, because i was anticipating moving. When I finally opened the box set it up and started using it. NOWHERE DID IT TELL ME my husband purchased a piece of equipment that would be attached to a monthly or annual billing charge. Have had the desktop scanner nd 1000 for 2 weeks; the second time I used it, no longer "connected to the internet"...Have called their "contact number" many times, and have written to their support team. No communication, and no response. On their website, they tell us to go to "my account" for refund form, no refund form available, thus, no RA # to return, and time moves on, decreasing number of days for return. I have been going back and for with neat technical support for 2 weeks and have not had one issue resolved. First is was not being able to even get in. When they said it would be fix in 2 days checked back in 3 day and was told to be patient. Then the directions on the web were unclear on how to add locations and I was sent numerous return emails asking me for information that made no sense along with links to the same information in... I've had the neat receipts scanner for approximately five years unfortunately a year-and-a-half later they updated their software which was not backwards compatible with their new software and I lost two years worth of data. The scanner was working fine until now which they've decided to go to a cloud-based software which makes me pay monthly fee in order to use the scanner that I paid over $400 for. Neat Co. has not delivered a reliable system, nor have they backed up there products or services. Three years of equipment failures and software issues resulted in unrecoverable data loss, unnecessary equipment upgrades, multiple backup libraries each having various corupt files, manual labor to visually inspect files in hopes to salvage data, expense and time loss for my company, personal data and IRS requirements! I have been using the Neat system for a few years now. I have hundreds of documents (all locally stored on my hard drive) for which I have shredded and long-since disposed of the originals. Recently I decided to switch to Mac OS from PC and wanted to transfer all my files. Not an easy process. I can export the files as PDF and then load them into the mac Neat software (dud a few, seems to work, more or less). Or I can put them on a USB stick... Read more
