I have been going back and for with neat technical support for 2 weeks and have not had one issue resolved. First is was not being able to even get in. When they said it would be fix in 2 days checked back in 3 day and was told to be patient. I've had the neat receipts scanner for approximately five years unfortunately a year-and-a-half later they updated their software which was not backwards compatible with their new software and I lost two years worth of data. Neat Co. has not delivered a reliable system, nor have they backed up there products or services. Three years of equipment failures and software issues resulted in unrecoverable data loss, unnecessary equipment upgrades, multiple backup libraries each having various corupt files, manual labor to visually inspect files in hopes to salvage data, expense and time loss for my company, personal data and IRS requirements! I have been using the Neat system for a few years now. I have hundreds of documents (all locally stored on my hard drive) for which I have shredded and long-since disposed of the originals. Recently I decided to switch to Mac OS from PC and wanted to transfer all my files. Not an easy process. I can export the files as PDF and then load them into the mac Neat software (dud a few, seems to work, more or less). Or I can put them on a USB stick... Read more

I paid three hundred plus for a glorified scanner at Sam's and the sales associate said you can return it in 30 days if you are not happy. I thought OK that it is Sam's return policy. The packaging indicates that NeatConnect is a scanner + organizational software, nowhere did it indicate that I would be required to pay ransom to view the documents that I had scanned into it. I agree completely with the previous posts. Same experiences - Neat no longer functions in El Capitan despite all off their "workarounds." I have spent hours of my time trying to get this piece of junk to work as it should - all to no avail. The app repeatedly crashes when you hit the SCAN icon in the app (forget about the buttons on the scanner itself - SCAN and PDF - they are TOTALLY USELESS in El Capitan). Phone tech support is non-existent.... Read more

I also have major complaints about the NEAT company. Their software is massively lackluster and seems like something from the late 1990's. I literally have 100's of hours scanning into this system and am always unsure that i will be able to find things later on, yet faith pushes me forward. I have been after them to include a simple thing called batch editing, OMG it was like i was asking them to land on mars! Other programs have that feature... Read more

If anyone out there is thinking of putting together a class action lawsuit please contact me! They have jerked me around now for 3 weeks. Their product no longer works on iMac El Capitan - personally I think they did this on purpose because of the launch of their new cloud which requires you to pay - so that you can't just continue using your older neat scanner.. I have been thoroughly frustrated with the lack of integrity and poor customer service for this company. I purchased their scanner through Amazon in May 2015 and after a frustrating attempt to get it to work, I returned it to Amazon via UPS within two weeks and was given credit for the hardware.
